Inspiring people to rise above their challenges to
achieve their goals and dreams
History
of Giving
2007
The Light the Future Foundation’s fundamental giving interests
for 2007 included non-profits and charitable programs that focus on enriching
the body, mind, and soul of its beneficiaries. We are confident that this year’s gift will
improve the educational, self-empowerment, and leadership opportunities for children
in the Reach for Excellence program of Atlanta,
Georgia. We also believe that the gift to Operation
Smile will improve the lives and health of children across the world.
Reach for Excellence
The Reach for Excellence Program is an Atlanta-based
tuition-free program that prepares talented middle schools students to
succeed in challenging high school and college preparatory programs.
This is a fabulous organization that really is making a
positive difference in the lives of young adults in our community.

Operation Smile
A person very dear to us passed away in 2007
after devoting much of her professional life to Operation Smile. As a nurse
with this fabulous organization that “changes lives one smile at a time,” she
traveled to Brazil, Kenya, China, Russia, and other corners of the world as
part of a team of doctors and nurses who surgically repair facial deformities
on children and thus restore their smiles. The before and after pictures that
she shared with us from her travels are truly inspiring and provide a very
real example of how people can share their love and their talents to make
such a dramatic difference in the lives of others throughout the world.
For more information or to donate, you can
visit their website at www.operationsmile.org
Should you choose to donate to this worthwhile organization in honor of the
nurse very dear to us, you can give in memory of Elsie Mae Tercha, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania volunteer nurse.
2008
The Light the Future Foundation continued its giving
toward programs that help improve the lives of people, especially children
and young adults. Again, with one
local Atlanta
focused organization in the Bridge and one international organization, Right
to Play.
The
Bridge
The Mission of The Bridge is to improve the quality of life and
social functioning of Georgia’s
troubled and abused adolescents by providing innovative community based and family
focused therapeutic services, specialized education and residential care. For more, see www.thebridge-atlanta.org.
Right to Play
In this Olympic year, the foundation kept the spirit of
the Olympics alive by donating to an organization that was started by an
Olympian. Right To Play is an international humanitarian
organization that uses sport and play programs to improve health,
develop life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of
the most disadvantaged areas of the world. Click here for more about Right to Play.
